Excalibur Meeting Report, 30th May 2018

With the meeting theme "Horoscopes", TME Eva Yang introduced everyone with his or her personalities of the star sign. Cat Kipling warmly invited our guests to promote their Toastmasters home club. Noor Khan served as a timekeeper.




Prepared Speeches! 

Paul Andreas who used to be an Marine Engineer explained how an engine works with the title “The Wheels on the Bus.” Evaluator Ian Etherson enjoyed his clear slide content and recommended to be aware of time limit. Simon Bucknall delivered an educational speech on the importance of teaching public speaking in schools. Moreover, on 1st July, Simon Bucknall will speak at TEDx London with the same topic! Evaluator Errol Williamson loved his examples and suggested to balance the time used in two stories. Robin Alcott, as a Canadian, amused the audience with her adventures in ice hockey. Evaluator Sonia Araujo really liked her interesting experiences and recommended more vocal varieties. David Adams, opened up his Icebreaker in <Innovative Planning Pathways> with a lovely poem of his star sign. Evaluator Dan Stoddart was surprised by his comfortable and confident stage charm and suggested to organised the speech.  



  
Open Feedback & General Evaluator: 
Carolina Castillo clearly and succinctly drew out audience commendations and recommendations for both speakers. General Evaluator as well as 2014 District evaluation champion, Lynne Cantor provided many useful tips for each individual evaluator.



Entertainment! 
As an extra event of Excalibur meeting, we also included some interesting sessions which are unusual for the regular meeting. Grammarian Marcin Tolysz introduced the word "chillax" (calm down and relax) on his T-shirt and reminded the audience various beautiful word usages from the speakers during the meeting. Moreover, Harkmaster Freddie Daniells brought a box of delicious chocolate and conducted the Q&A session with lots of fun. 



Finally, Chinkata Okpara closed the meeting by announcing the winners:

Best Speaker: Robin Alcott

Excalibur Meeting Report, 23th May 2018

On the Lucky Penny Day, TME Robin Alcott introduced everyone with his or her luckiest thing in the life. Marcin Tolysz warmly invited our guest to share her Toastmasters experience. Ian Etherson served as a timekeeper.  

  
Table Topics session: Single Londener

In order to fix Single Londeners problem, Table Topic Master, Noor Khan brought the audience to various scenarios. Ben Starling stated an interesting way to have the phone number of the girl nearby in the tube. David West enjoyed his deliveries and barely found any recommendations. In terms of meeting a handsome guy in Pret a Manger, Eva Yang mentioned three tips to chat with the lovely boy. David Adam thought her speech fabulous and shared his own experience as well. 


Instead of drinking, Carol West searched his Mr. Right in a specific algorithm in summer BBQ party. Prakash Patel liked her warm smiles and suggested to be aware of repetitive words. No matter where you areCarolina Castillo found smile and commendation be the best strategy. Chinkata Okpara regarded her impromptu speech very organised and round. Brian Skelton said to recommend the  girl he is fond of could work. Marcin Tolysz really appreciated his sense of humor and looked forward to a detailed approach. 


Prepared Speeches! 

Dionysios Kola told us an inspiring folk tale on the topic “How much land does a man need?” Evaluator Brian Skelton enjoyed his vivid storytelling skills and recommended the use of stage. Monika Swiderska rehearsed her coming job interview about her master project under the title “Development of an interactive 3D digital EIA.” Evaluator Eva Yang loved her confidence and clear explanation and suggested to adjust the font size on the slides. Freddie Daniells, acting as the President, hold an special event. Evaluator Carolina Castillo really liked his delivery.

General Evaluator as well as our welcoming guest, Esme Van Herwijnen, had a lot of fun in the meeting and provided recommendations for the session masters and evaluators.

Congratulations to our President, Chinkata Okpara, who won the district evaluation during the spring conference. IPP as well as TME, Lynne Cantor drew our attentions with her shiny microphone and introduced the word of the day: Champion! Ben Starling warmly invited guests to talk about themselves. Robin Alcott served as a timekeeper.  


Table Topics session

Table Topic Master as well as Present-to-be in Excalibur, Monika Swiderska proposed various questions related to the conference.

Cat Kipling stated that she would like to have a super power which can transport herself to anywhere at any time. David Adam enjoyed her deliveries. Speaking of the best memory in the childhood, Carol West addressed overcoming the difficulties in her diabetes disease. Freddie Daniells thought her speech fabulous and inspiring and recommended to use more stages. Director-to-be of Division L, Marcin Tolysz totally agreed with what the current CEO of Toastmaster have done so far. Ben Starling liked his warm smiles.

When encountering some annoying audience, Brain Skelton figured out several brilliant ideas to deal with them. Chinkata Okpara found her reasons meaningful and suggested avoided swaying the body. In spite of two hours of commuting, Anne Bingham followed her inner voice to join the meeting. Carolina Castillo was fond of the descriptive way to address her feeling. Concerning the terrible experience of his breakfast in the company, Lukasz Karwacki would recommend to have an Asian food instead. David Lennon enjoyed the statements. 



Prepared Speeches! 

Errol Williamson converted his frustration experience in Evaluation contest to a humorous and inspiring speech on the topic “I thought I was fraud, it seems I was not.” Evaluator Nick Westall enjoyed his use of phrases and constructive hero journey. David West embarked on the journey of PATHWAYS under the title “My Speaking Debut.” Evaluator David Lennon loved his flow and dialogues with his teacher and suggested to learn the best time for silence on the stage. Ian Etherson painted an authentic picture of raising his children. Evaluator Noor Khan really liked his detailed descriptions and recommended to use the stage wisely.

IPP as well as TME, Lynne Cantor conducted the elections of Excalibur Committee successfully. Moreover, Marcin Tolysz was promoted to be the coming Division L Director and earned an award of “Home Club of the Division Director” to Excalibur.
