Speak Out report for 27 November 2014

The last Speak Out of the year was another intimate and purposeful session that gave Excalibur Speakers members an opportunity to test and develop their public speaking skills on projects that would be difficult to accommodate within a regular evening meeting. David A presided over the meeting as Toastmaster, with Andrew and Anne providing feedback for the two speech projects that afternoon.

Marc made a sales pitch on “Mature Assets”, based on Project 3 from the Speciality Speeches manual. The title of the speech made no reference to any of the attendees but rather to ageing real estate that requires the services of the company he was representing.

George facilitated a problem-solving discussion on “Scheduling”, for Project 3 from the Facilitating Discussion manual. The discussion followed on from George's previous brainstorming session and centred on how to ensure that Excalibur Speakers is allocated a fair share of the many educational awards its members achieve. The discussion prompted the suggestion that this is in fact a problem the club is proud to have, in the sense that its current objectives are to help the members to serve their respective home clubs.

Next meeting

Our last meeting of the year is on Wednesday, 10th December at the Fitzrovia Community Centre. It will have a seasonal theme with lots of festive cheer, so arrive on time for a prompt 7pm start.
