Speak Out report for 26 February 2015

Attending this month's Speak Out meeting were members George, Anne, Justine and Tony, plus five guests! The guests had come along because they are thinking of setting up a new corporate club, and the Speak Out meeting was very convenient for them.

Three speeches were delivered this afternoon, beginning with George who gave an impromptu speech based on Project 9 from the Competent Communication manual. His message was firmly directed at our guests, with an extremely inspirational message about the many benefits that Toastmasters clubs can provide. George gave several examples from existing corporate clubs and how they had benefited the sponsoring company in ways they hadn't imagined when starting out.

Justine's speech was based on the final project from the Special Occasion Speeches manual – Accepting an Award – where she gave us a vision of the point in her future when she will accept the Distinguished Toastmaster award. Justine gave a very eloquent, inspiring and humorous speech, which was the perfect accompaniment to the one George had delivered before her as it told of how the huge improvement in her communication skills had had such a profound effect in so many areas of her life.

Finally, Tony's speech entitled "Losing Big", based on Project 3 from the Storytelling manual, was given in preparation for the upcoming speech contest (see below).

Justine then led an open evaluation of all three speeches in which everyone enthusiastically took part, including our guests.
